A: A Hygeia health plan gives you access to quality healthcare services across Nigeria. The plans offer a combination of health insurance and a Wellness Programmes.
Q: What's in it for me?
A: You have a choice of 5 plans to choose from suited to your individual needs. For one single payment annually which includes a fixed amount per person per family, the plan allows you to manage your money better by avoiding unexpected healthcare costs. You have access to all levels of healthcare from our network of highly trained staff, with modern facilities in specialist hospitals, clinics and affiliated providers which are strategically located all over Nigeria
Q: How do I apply?
A: You can apply online with the application form listed under the Registration section or visit our office Welcome Centre at, The Bank of Industry Building, 23 Marina (Broad Street Entrance) Lagos.
Q: How many people will the family plan cover?
A: Six. You, your spouse and four dependants under 18 years of age.
Q: Am I covered if I am pregnant?
A: Yes, if you are on a corporate plan you are covered immediately. However, on all other individual plans, a 9 month waiting period applies before you are able to access any maternity care benefits.
Q: After payment for the health plan, what next?
A: You will receive an introductory Welcome Pack which will include a welcome letter, your Hygeia ID card, a policy certificate and a member handbook which has all the information on your healthplan that you will require for the year.
Q: Can I continue using my old hospital after my enrolment?
A: Only if the hospital is registered in our network.
Q: What can I do if I want to change my hospital?
A: Contact your Hygeia Client Manager to apply.

Q: In a medical emergency, am i allowed to obtain treatment from healthcare providers within the Hygeia provider network that I am not registered with?
A: Yes, as long as you present your Hygeia HMO ID card.
Q: What is NHIS all about?
A: The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was established by the Federal Government to roll out the public health sector insurance in Nigeria. Hygeia HMO is one of the accredited HMO(s) for the implementation of the scheme. For further enquiries about the scheme, please visit the NHIS website.
Q: Can I call the Call Care Centre anytime?
A:Yes, the Care Call Centre is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year on 01 776 2433 or 01 773 6996.
Q: Does the plan renew automatically?
A:Renewal follows the same process as enrolment. You will be required to pay upfront and you can pay by bank draft, cash or cheque.

A: You can only upgrade or change your plan annually on renewal.
Q: What happens in an emergency where I cannot reach a provider in the network?
A: Get treated in the nearest hospital and notify Hygeia within 24hrs of occurrence.
Q: If am a traveler, can I access care anywhere in the country apart from my chosen provider?
A: Yes. Call the Care Call Centre and they will pre-authorise you for access.
