About Hygeia Nigeria Limited
Hygeia began operating in 1986 as what has now become the flagship hospital, Lagoon Hospital Apapa, a multi-specialist tertiary facility in Lagos and currently one of four hospitals in Nigeria offering both MRI and CT Scans. Lagoon Hospitals currently operate two ultramodern specialist facilities in Apapa and Ikeja. The Hospital Group also runs a clinic in Victoria Island. Plans are underway for expansion of Lagoon Victoria Island and the Hospitals plan to take investment and management stakes in other branded hospitals, which are strategic to the HMO network, over the next five years.
The Company has also expanded to provide health insurance through two of its subsidiaries, Hygeia HMO and Hygeia Community Health Plan. The Company is also currently involved in the management of hospitals and worksite clinics, through the holding and operating company Hygeia Nigeria Limited. Hygeia HMO is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hygeia Nigeria Limited. The Hygeia Community Health plan is a donor funded initiative that aims to improve access to quality healthcare to low income groups in Nigeria. Through the Hygeia Nigeria Limited Foundation, the company also now builds capacity for the medical personnel in and beyond its provider network
Through these four companies, Hygeia has been able to deliver primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare to the Nigerian population.
